Mr. Shao Mingli, Commissioner of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), met the delegation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) headed by Mr. Lumpkin, FDA’s Deputy Commissioner on May 26, 2006. The two sides exchanged views on gene therapy, vaccine review and approval, the development of H5N1 vaccine, GMP inspection, combat on counterfeiting drugs, and Internet drug sales. Furthermore, the two sides expressed their preliminary intents to cooperate in the areas of drug registration, supervision and inspection, food safety risk assessment and reached consensus for future cooperation to ensure the public health of the peoples of China and the United States.
