On June 23, 2004, the State Food and Drug Administration(SFDA) issued a notice, saying that the Administration decided to establish a SFDA think tank on health food evaluation. The notice was intended to standardize the technical examination of health food and make sure that its procedures are scientific, standard, fair and effective. The notice also stipulated the principles and scopes for its member selection, the requirements for becoming members and the procedures of recommending experts for members.
